Welfest on the Meadow – Welford-on-Avon-  28th August 2010.
The 1st Welfest outdoor event, promoted by Simon Hart which had Simon Fowler of Ocean Colour Scene and Picturebook headlining was an outstanding success and which is set to be an annual event.
The day started with a relaxed festival atmosphere where families enjoyed listening to fantastic artists such as Charles Longbottom, Emma Skipp and Thom Kirkpatrick whilst enjoying their picnics and the BBQ in the August summer sun.
One of the major highlights during the day was the Lancaster Bomber that flew over the audience twice as Shout Gospel Choir performed.
Later, the acoustic style acts of Sarah Ruddick, Roxanne De Bastion and Paul Van Ryan brought a chilled out vibe to the crowd.
As the evening drew in, the mood changed to that of a festival party as people began dancing to bands such as Hoden Lane, The Klatter/ Filthys and The Paxton Honeypockets.
The penultimate act was the successful talent of Simon Fowler. The minute Simon appeared on the stage the audience rushed to the front and were singing along to the Ocean Colour Scene tracks such as Circle and Magic Carpet Days. One of the highlights was when the powerful, soulful voiced Emma Skipp accompanied Simon on the track Beautiful Thing.
The night ended with Picturebook an Electronica/ Dance act from Liverpool. Everybody was up dancing when this awesome band came on and some of us even ended up on the stage with them as backing dancers!!! Thank you to everyone for such a fun day/ night, it rocked.
The next Welfest event is on 2nd October in Cox’s Yard where another fantastic night is anticipated with acts appearing such as Simon Fowler, Picturebook, Emma Skipp, Barolo, Filthy Habbits and many more.
